As a child there was a concept I just could not wrap my head around.  I remember asking my dad to help me with something, or to play with me, and his response at times was “we’ll play just now, or now-now.”  As you can imagine, this confused me!  Was it ‘just now’ as in, 1 hour, or 10 minutes?  And what about ‘now-now’? What did that look like in a timeline?  Needless to say, this caused great traumatic strain for me!  🙂

Moments like that were horrible, especially if it involved playing with a new toy, or throwing a ball with my dad.  Being told to wait when something really awesome was about to happen, was hard, and often frustrating – I just didn’t understand it.

As an adult I have discovered that there is great wisdom in waiting for the right time.  You might have innovative ideas and good intentions, but if your timing sucks, guess what?  It’s not gonna fly.  Imagine asking your boss for an increase when he’s just returned from a funeral having suffered the loss of a loved one, you’ll certainly not get the salary adjustment.  He might have every intention of giving you a raise at the end of the year, but because your timing is off, it just becomes awkward and impractical. Timing is everything!

Faith in God, without fully trusting in His perfect timing, is pointless and pretty much tiring.  You’ll be praying and believing and making decisions and choices without His perfect timing, outside of His perfect will for your life.  Just like my dad had certain reasons for his delays in giving me what I wanted, or playing with me; God too has perfect reasons for His ‘delays’.

God only wants the best for us, He truly wants to see us succeed and do well in life.  You might have a hard time believing that because of your past or current situation.  My challenge to you, as was the challenge for me – try taking your eyes off yourself and your various situations that bring fear and doubt; and start placing your trust in God, place your every intention and idea, your every gift and ability in His hands, and watch Him work in your life. God’s timing is always perfect, the worst thing we can do is race on ahead of Him or lag behind when He is ready to move.
