Can You Hear God’s Voice?

0

Hearing God’s Voice – Are You Ready to Listen?
Hearing God’s voice is something we all long for. But did you know that it’s not hard to do? In fact, God wants you to hear His voice! He doesn’t speak to us through a quiver in our liver or through vibes or mediums. Hearing the voice of God is as natural as hearing your best friend talk to you. What’s more, we can hear Him every day and not just on special occasions or by chanting special incantations. He speaks to us in the natural moments of life. Do you want to hear God’s voice? Then you must be ready to listen.

Hearing God’s Voice – Why Do You Want to Hear Him?
Why do you want to hear God’s voice? That may sound like a silly question, but motives are important in anything we do. The Bible says this about God’s Word: “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

Hearing God’s Voice in the Bible
The Bible itself declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”.

Hearing God’s Voice through Prayer
When you want to have a conversation with someone, how do you begin? In an ordinary conversation, we speak, then listen for the response of the other person. It’s the same with God! Once we’ve prepared our hearts to listen through prayer, we’re more likely to hear the voice of God. Does He speak to us through an audible voice? Some claim He does, but usually that’s not the case. We may not actually “hear” the voice of God, but He speaks to us in many ways. Here are some of them:

  • God speaks through His Word
  • God speaks through our thoughts
  • God speaks through conversations with others
  • God speaks through circumstances

Hearing God’s Voice through Jesus
The Bible also tells us that Jesus is God in the flesh. Therefore, if you want to hear the voice of God, you must study and know the teachings of Jesus. Here’s how John describes Him: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life”. You must also have a personal relationship with Jesus. Have you ever tried to carry on a conversation of any depth with a person you did not know? It doesn’t usually go very far.

Shortly before He was crucified, Jesus met with His disciples to reassure them of what would happen after He was gone. He promised them a helper: “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you”. The Holy Spirit, then, is the fulfilment of the way we hear God’s voice!
So we have the Bible, prayer, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and our own hearts to help us in hearing God’s voice. Do you want to hear God’s voice? That is the final question, for God responds to willing hearts. In the book of Revelation, we read: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20).

God will never force you to obey Him, but waits for your willing response to His call. Can you hear God’s voice? Do you want to hear God’s voice? If you do, it’s possible you’re hearing Him already, for He may be the one giving you the longing to hear Him. Click on the banner below.

Be Aware!

Car remote ‘jamming’ has been around for a few years , but as automated locking systems have now become the norm – more criminals have taken an interest.

What exactly is ‘jamming’? It seems that a lot of us have developed the habit of casually walking away from our car, fully trusting the locking function of our remotes. We simply assume that if we’ve pressed the button – our car will be locked,  without actually checking to make sure.

Criminals have caught on to this and have developed ways in which they can wirelessly block or scramble the locking function of your remote. So using various devices they are able to block certain radio frequencies, leaving your car unlocked as you walk away none the wiser. They can then simply walk up to your car as if it were their own,  jump in and steal anything that you’ve left behind.

The types of devices that can be used, vary from things as simple as garage remotes, to more sophisticated devices that are able to broadcast  more powerful signals at  further ranges.

Most car remotes operate on fairly standard frequencies, meaning that the guess work – in terms of what frequency these criminals need to  scramble – is fairly minimal.

Fortunately these devices are not able to unlock your car. They are only able to prevent your own remote from locking your vehicle.

Being aware of how this type of theft works, goes along way in being able to prevent it. Be aware of your surroundings when you park, be wary of any lurkers or suspicious looking activity and basically just make sure that your car is indeed locked before walking away!

Remember to be aware!

God Can Use You Too

1. He was one of six children and only son of single mother.

2. He graduated from high school, moved to Chicago, and eventually to California.

3. He took tennis lessons from a man known as Old Whiskey, and decided that his daughters would be tennis professionals when he saw Virginia Ruzici playing on television. He says that he wrote up a 78-page plan, and started giving lessons to Venus and Serena when they were four and a half, and began taking them to the public tennis courts. (He now says he feels like he taught them too early, and six is a better age.) Soon he got them into Shreveport tennis tournaments. In 1995, Richard pulled them out of a tennis academy, and coached them himself.

4. Serena won the US Open in 1999; Venus beat Lindsay Davenport  to win the 2000 Wimbledon title. After that victory, Richard shouted “Straight Outta Compton!” (in reference to a song by N.W.A  based on that area in Los Angeles) and jumped over the NBC broadcasting booth, catching Christ Evert by surprise and performing a triumphant dance. Evert said that the broadcasters “thought the roof was coming down”. (lol).

This man I’m talking about is Venus and Serena William’s father, Richard. Who with the help of his former wife he couches the girls tennis and for them to become the best in the sport.

This is a man who didn’t limit himself and decided that he wanted to coach the daughters himself. He didn’t doubt himself, he went for it, and he took risks.

I get reminded of great men in the Bible whom God used. God used Noah, who had no skills or knowledge in the art of building ships.

David, who was not trained to be a soldier or taught how to fight.

Moses, he was not a great speaker and had a speech impediment.

God used these men despite the fact that they didn’t have any form of training or skills in the areas that God used them in. God can use the ill-equipped or self-taught person. He can use you; you can be where you want to be even if you don’t have the necessary skills, you can learn along the way and become the best you can be. God can use you too.

Do you see yourself as someone who has no necessary resources or qualities for a particular role or task; but see yourself being the best you can be? Do you dream to become something in life or someone that can change the world? Click the banner below.

Serena Williams Wins Wimbledon 2015

0

Serena Williams beat Spain’s Garbine Muguruza to win Wimbledon for the sixth time and complete the ‘Serena Slam’ as the holder of all four major titles.

The 33-year-old American won 6-4 6-4 on Centre Court to claim her 21st Grand Slam title and third of 2015.

Williams withstood a late fightback from 20th seed Muguruza, 21, to come through in one hour and 23 minutes.

She will head to the US Open next month aiming to complete the first calendar year Grand Slam of her career.

Muguruza was playing in her first Grand Slam final and took a 4-2 lead, before giving the top seed a mighty scare by battling back from a set and 5-1 down with two breaks of serve.

She could not quite complete the comeback, however, with an error-strewn service game setting up Williams to clinch a landmark win when the Spaniard found the tramlines.

“There was definitely pressure towards the end,” said Williams, who also completed the ‘Serena Slam’ in 2003.

“Garbine started playing really well and I just had to think to stay out there and work really hard.

“I am having so much fun out on the court. Everyday is a pleasure to be playing and winning Wimbledon.”

Williams, who turns 34 next month, replaces Martina Navratilova as the oldest Wimbledon champion in the open era, and the nine-time winner was among several former champions watching history made from the Royal Box.

Admitting To Wrong Doing

Ariana Grande issued another apology on Thursday for her “ugly” behaviour after she was caught on a surveillance video apparently licking pastries and slamming America while inside a Riverside County doughnut shop.

The 22-year-old pop singer issued a few apologies, including one on Twitter. At about 7 p.m. on Thursday, she posted a black-and-white video attempting to atone for “behaving poorly.”

“It has not been an easy 24 hours,” she said in the YouTube video, which is more than four minutes long. “It’s been rough. I made a mistake and I am being judged for it.”

Later in the video, she is shown calling the pastries disgusting and declaring, “I hate Americans. I hate America.”

“Here I am apologizing to you all … because seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly, that you have no idea was taken, is such a rude awakening, that you don’t know what to do,” she said. “I was so disgusted with myself.”

“I’ve actually never been prouder to be an American, to be honest with you,” she said. “Advances that we’ve made in the past couple of months and all the wonderful progressive things that have been going on, I’ve never been prouder of this country, actually.”

She acknowledged her mistake and admitting to wrong doing, so I think she has learnt from all this, hence she’s feeling bad about what she did. But she shouldn’t let mistakes cripple her. We all have to accept that we will make mistakes in our careers and lives; but we learn from them, improve, and keep going.

What about you? How do you handle your mistakes? Have you ever felt like you’re not really sure where to start? Click on the pop-up or banner below to find out about the best way to be forgiven and to start again.

Prayer Doesn’t Have to Be Long

0

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know”. – Jeremiah 33:3 NIV

The length of our prayers really makes no difference to God. All that matters is that we pray the way He is teaching us to pray and that our prayers are Spirit- led, heartfelt, thankful, and accompanied by faith. Throughout the Bible, there are incredibly brief, but powerful, prayers. Here are a few of them:

    1. Moses prayed for his sister: “Heal her now, O God, I beseech You!” (Numbers 12:13).
    2. Elijah prayed: “O Lord my God, I pray, let this child’s soul come back to him” (1 Kings 17:21 NKJV).
    3. Jesus prayed: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34 NKJV).

There will be times when you’ll pray longer prayers than others, but there is no correlation between how many minutes or hours we pray and whether God hears us. Just one word spoken to Him in faith from a sincere heart can reach His heart and move His hand.

Why African Women Skin Bleach

0

Not all African women believe ‘black is beautiful’. And that’s OK.

Skin lightening products are used by millions of women across Africa. Sede Alonge, who lives in Nigeria, makes the case for why they shouldn’t be made to feel like they are betraying their race.

Toning. Lightening. Brightening. Whitening. Bleaching. While the marketing slogans promoting skin enhancement in Africa might be varied, the underlying effects are pretty identical. Although I do not use skin lightening products, but I know lots of women in Africa do.

Skin-lightening creams

On offer in these local shops are a myriad of products designed to make dark skin lighter: Kojic acid soaps, fade creams, hydroquinone creams, whitening shower gels made from goat milk and for the more determined: skin lightening injections.

Vera Sidika, a popular Kenyan model and socialite, publicly admitted to spending tons of money bleaching her skin, she added fuel to an already smoking hot fire. Just one admission was enough to re-ignite the fierce debate about Africans’s perception of beauty.

Sidika says she is proud of the way she looks and thinks African societies are hypocritical on this thorny issue. But her honesty roused the ire of many social media users across the continent.

Vera-Sidika

On the topic of skin whitening, emotionally charged slogans such as “black is beautiful” are often employed in an attempt to make women like Sidika feel as if they are somehow betraying their race. Such women are then accused of having inferiority complexes towards white people.

In Nigeria alone, 77 per cent of women use skin lightening products, according to a recent World Health Organisation report.

Yes, black is beautiful, but so also is white, brown, yellow and the many shades in between. Are self-affirming slogans going to be needed by black people forever?

People’s desire to have a particular skin tone, be it a darker or lighter one, stems from them wanting to be more attractive and sometimes for others to take notice. Yes, black is beautiful, but so also is white, brown, yellow and the many shades in between. Are self-affirming slogans going to be needed by black people forever?

Till Death Do Us Part: A True Love Story

Don and Maxine Simpson, a couple from Bakersfield, California, married a year after meeting in 1952, and their love story carried on for 62 years. The husband and wife duo rarely spent time apart. The end of both spouses’ lives was no exception.

Maxine had been battling cancer all year, and Don had broken his hip two weeks prior to his passing. The Simpsons leave behind two children and multiple grandchildren.

I thought this is a beautiful love story. From the time they met, getting married and growing old together. I may not have known them personally but just reading about them made me think and conclude that their love was an unselfish kind of love which was the “glue” that holds marriages together. In marriage, they probably subdued their own egos and selfish pride for the sake of the family.

Look, I’ve never been married before nor do I know anything about marriage, but I often hear that the excitement and romantic feelings of a new relationship fade in time, and the husband and wife will begin to see and resent each other’s faults… (Kind of scary to me). That is when true “Christian Love” (kindness, respect, benevolence) must take over. True Christian love is not a feeling; it is something we must make the effort to practice every day. Paul states it most very well in the Bible when he says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”. (1 Corinthians 13:4–7). Makes sense right?

Here’s a video about Don and Maxine.

Don and Maxine Simpson’s ability to love each other, and that fact that only death separated them sounds like a story taken from a romantic movie, but it’s not. Till death do us part: a true love story that was blessed by God.

We All Have The Freedom Of Choice

Bill Cosby admitted under oath that he got a sort of sedative for the purpose of giving the drug to young women with whom he wanted to have sex, newly released documents show.

The documents date back to 2005, and they stem from a lawsuit filed by one of the many women who have publicly accused the comedian of sexual assault. The records were made public Monday after The Associated Press went to court to compel their release.

More than 25 women have alleged that Cosby assaulted them over the past 40 years. Most of the allegations have passed statutes of limitations, preventing criminal legal action.

Most people had a thing or two to share on social media, on how disappointed they are with Bill who most have seen him as a role model.

I don’t judge; I love Bill and I grew up watching him on TV, but definitely I don’t condone nor support him for what he did. I wont try and defend him just because he’s my role model. What he did was absolutely wrong in so many levels. He violated those women, he took advantage of them.  However I do applaud him for his honesty to talk about what he did because honesty is truthfulness. An honest person represents himself just as he is and tells others the truth about themselves.

We should seek forgiveness from whoever was directly involved in order to ensure healing. For example, if a man looks with lust at a woman, he should immediately confess the sin to the Lord. That sin is between the man and the Lord. However, if a man breaks a promise, or does something that directly impacts the woman, he must confess to her and seek her forgiveness. If a sin involves a large number of people, such as a church, a man or woman must then extend the confession to the members of the church. So the confession and apology should match the impact. Those impacted by the sin should hear the confession.

When we have offended, hurt, or sinned against others, we should seek to offer a sincere apology and confession and ask for forgiveness. Whether the forgiveness is granted is up to those who were confessed to. Our responsibility is to genuinely repent, confess the sin, and ask for forgiveness.

Bill made choices that impacted negatively on people, he hurt those women in any way possible. I pray that these women forgive him in this hard time. And I hope this is a lesson to everyone that whatever choices you’ve made will have the desired outcome.
