I Need A Hug

0

Sometimes all I need is a hug, whether I’m sad or happy. All over the world, hugging is recognized as a common form of greeting. Depending on culture, context and relationship, a hug can indicate familiarity, love, affection or friendship. One person may also hug another as an indication of support, comfort, and consolation. In some cultures and for some people, especially between strangers, a hug may not be the norm and can be considered an invasion of private space. I find that in some cultures, people don’t hug but they do give handshakes when they greet or when they say their goodbyes to avoid awkwardness. There has been extensive research carried out on the psychological benefits of being hugged. The results show that an average person needs at least 4 hugs a day.

Watching a video I found on YouTube made me realize that not everyone is a huger. Some people find it a bit awkward and think hugging is weird. Others always think there should be a particular reason to hug, and some generally don’t like hugging at all.

This guy decided to hit the streets and give free hugs to strangers. Watch the outcome in the video below.

Some people need hugs more than others. Maybe they are battling with low self esteem, battling with an addiction or an illness and all they need is someone to say “I love you, here’s a hug, all will be fine”. Why not hug someone today? You might touch someone’s life is an incredible way.

Lets make this trend, send this hashtag to everyone on your social media profile #Hugs #IGiveHugs

I Want A Healthy Lifestyle

I’ve been thinking lately. What really makes one neglect their health? Is it maybe because we get so busy and get caught up with everyday life activities that we don’t pay attention to the details? Ever heard the saying, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? Well, it is important that your body gets all the necessary nutrients it needs, helps to boost your energy levels and helps kick start your day.

Many people don’t think about it from this angle – the tendency being to jump straight into lifestyle magazines and health brochures – but God has provided us with an “owner’s manual” that tells us how to operate the human body. That manual is the Bible – a book that contains instructions for proper maintenance. Although it isn’t a medical text, it is God’s Word, and in its pages He reveals many basic principles for good physical, mental, and spiritual health.

God knows everything about us, and He’s provided the necessary keys to good health. The choice to obey what He says and reap the resulting benefits is ours to make. There are many examples in the Bible regarding looking after ourselves and taking care of our bodies.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

To nourish your body and appearance, eat vegetables and drink lots of water!

“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way… ‘Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.’ At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food” (Daniel 1:8, 12,13,15).

The Spirituality of Healthy Living: Healthy living begins with healthy thinking.

“People need more than bread for their life; they must feed on every word of God” (Matthew 4:4b, NLT).

Take a step in the right direction by taking charge of what you expose your body to. Lifestyle changes are things we should consider. Every now and then, try and re-evaluate your health and check what bad habits need to be eliminated.

Most importantly though, start at the beginning and take care of what matters most – your inner well-being. We believe that inner health and a truly healthy lifestyle begins with knowing the true source of life. God has provided a way for us to experience that by offering a relationship with His son, Jesus. If you want to know more about Him, please click on the banner below and watch the video that follows.

Here’s to healthy living at its best!

Gavin Rajah copycat for the third time

0

Designer Gavin Rajah has been accused of copying another designer’s work for the third time.

Rajah is one of the most revered designers in South African & African fashion in general however the creative keeps courting controversy.

Fashion Show

gavin1

Rajah revealed his Autumn/Winter ’15 Resort Collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2015 held at Melrose Arch. His collection he says was inspired by “memories of bygone events, romances that were, the free-spirited lifestyle of the 1970’s and the music of Claudine Longet”.

Rajah is believed to have stolen UK designer Han Chong’s dress. His version version might be a different colour from Chong’s original design, with Rajah going for all-white and Chong for white and blue, but that’s the only difference between the two frocks, except some minor detailing.

Rajah’s line had 70s inspiration, the collection featured swimwear with retro hints, see-through swiss broderie dresses, capes, pantsuits, floral embroidered dresses and more. The models rocked chic shoes by Europa Art Shoes, adding extra glam to the entire showcase.

The resort 2015 vibe was completed with distressed straw hats and large messy hair.

Zuhair-Gavin

Last year he was accused of copying a couture design by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad.

In 2013, Cape Town designer Paul van Zyl said that Rajah’s award-winning “pebble dress”, which drew on the unique use of ostrich skin, had been plagiarised.

Responding to the Murad controversy a year ago, Rajah denied copying the dress, saying that he was disappointed by the whole situation and would “never do Fashion Week again”.

Exercises That Will Transform Your Body

0

Jumping Rope

If you are like most people, chances are good that you haven’t picked up, much less used a jump rope since you were in grade school. If that’s where you are coming from, you are missing out on a cheap and effective means of getting into shape. In fact, jumping rope burns more calories per minute than practically any other exercise. Besides, it’s fun too.

Squats

If you are looking for something that will tone a series of muscles in one exercise, squats could be just the thing. Squats tone your glutes, strengthens your body, and burns lots of calories. And if you want to really ramp up the benefits of his exercise, just make it into a jump squat, and throw in a weight to blast the fat.

Pushups

There are probably few exercises that people hate more than push-ups. This is not only due to the fact that they are a little harder to perform, but they also harken back to the time of high school PE and/or boot camp. On the other hand, pushups have a lot of beneficial effects, including working a wide variety of muscles as well as cardiovascular health.

Lunges

If you are in need of help with toning and strengthening your legs, lunges are one of the most effective means of doing this. Doing several sets of lunges will help you a lot, and if that’s not enough, try jump lunges.

Swimming

Despite the fact that you need a pool to swim, its benefits can easily make you want to find one so you can enjoy it. Swimming uses many muscle groups, not to mention building cardiovascular strength. Besides, what better way could there be to cool off during a hot summer day or any other for that matter?

Running

Running is another exercise that is immensely beneficial but recalls memories of gym class and boot camp. Unfortunately, it is an excellent method of getting into shape quickly and efficiently.

Beyoncé did a video a while ago fighting obesity in the United States and encouraging people to do more for their health. Check the video, great work out.

Am I Being Misunderstood?

Recently I bumped to an old friend I went to school with. I had a conversation with her about a few things and touched on areas such as politics etc. When she asked me to explain again what I meant exactly some of the points I was making, I expressed my thoughts in at least four main points. We then moved on to other topics of conversation.

To my surprise, a few hours later after we had separated, I got a message from her stating that she basically still didn’t agree with me. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying I wanted her to agree with everything I said. All I had really done was raise my concerns regarding the state of politics in our country.

As I continued to read her message, my anger levels started to rise. What she was talking about was not what I had said at all. She took my words out of context and formed an entire argument by focusing on one point. This of course opened the door for what appeared to me to be a lecture about government practices etc.

I was furious by the time I was done reading that message and thought to myself, “Did she really understand what I was talking about earlier”? My first thought was to respond back and try to explain what I meant earlier and also make her understand that I wasn’t impressed with the way she had twisted my words. But I didn’t. I resisted the temptation and I calmed myself down.

So I thought to myself, “Why is it that people tend to misinterpret other people?, Why do I often find myself so misunderstood”? Is it maybe that the way I communicate things to people is not as clear as it should be? Is it perhaps my use of language? (I speak 6 languages by the way) or could it be that I am just not a good communicator at all? I was totally confused.

I felt angry that I was misunderstood. I felt that my friend should have given me the benefit of the doubt and not thought the worst of me.

It’s not your view. It’s theirs: The first thing that came to mind was that what was written in the message wasn’t my opinion. It was my friend’s view of my opinion–through her own filters and perspective. It had nothing to do with me or what I said. Had I tried to explain my position further, she would’ve still picked on what she wanted to hear and not necessarily what I wanted to say.

It’s likely that you’ve felt misunderstood like I did with my friend. This is something that’s common to all of us and I know I’m certainly not the first person to feel like I did that day. Our relationships, because they are with flawed, imperfect people just like ourselves, will go through those moments. The good news is that it is possible to have a relationship with someone who understands us at all times. Not only does he understand you but he is available to listen at any time. We’d love to share more about this relationship with you and invite you to click on the banner below.
