Ashley Madison Website Hacked

Trending news online: A dating website Ashley Madison website hacked on Monday. The website that helps married people cheat has been hit by hackers who threatened to release information about millions of customers.

Ashley Madison, which uses the advertising slogan “Life is short. Have an affair,” said Monday it had been attacked and some user data was stolen.

So far, though, it isn’t easy to find the exposed cheaters online. That could change soon if the hackers decide to publish the information on a public website.

Brian Krebs, the blogger who first reported the breach, said the hackers were threatening to release all Ashley Madison’s customer records if the website isn’t shut down.

The hackers called themselves the “Impact Team,” and the potential release includes “profiles with all the customers’ and matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses, and employee documents and emails.”

Ashley Madison is a dating website, with one twist: Instead of connecting eligible singles, it caters to married people interested in having an affair. The site claims to have 37 million members, and has in the past bragged about its data security.

The site is an obvious target for hackers. After all, its databases have enormous potential for use in blackmail schemes.

Should Churches Produce TV Programs?

0

It’s pretty popular these days to bash local churches producing broadcast TV programs. Even megachurches with adequate budgets for media don’t escape the criticism. After all, the history of Christian television shows us that a significant number of programs through the years were downright embarrassing, and if anything, drove people away from the faith, rather than toward it. But in spite of the mistakes, poor quality, and questionable results of some church efforts, here’s 5 reasons I still encourage churches to consider a broadcast ministry:

1) The audience is still significant. Amid all the buzz about people moving to the Internet, the audience for broadcast and cable TV is still huge. In fact, it’s one of the key reasons I wrote this post based on secular research that indicates TV is still the most effective advertising medium. If our goal is culture change, then the size of the audience means that TV still needs to be in the evangelism mix.

2) The audience still responds. The last generation of Christian TV viewers were incredible financial givers. Their response to media ministries built universities, hospitals, and some of the largest mission outreaches in history. This generation hasn’t proven to give at those levels, but if you can engage them with an honest message, and amplify that message across multiple social media and other platforms, they still may respond – sometimes financially, and sometimes through action.

3) In today’s culture, the visibility of television programmes matter. Ask a nonbeliever about a major Christian figure today and chances are, those with TV ministries are the most likely to be named. Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Billy Graham, Brian Houston, Andy Stanley, T.D. Jakes, Jack Graham, and others are known around the world because of their exposure on television. And for most pastors and leaders, it’s not about ego, it’s about giving the message visibility.

4) In many cases, churches already have most of the elements in place for a TV programme. The Sunday service is happening weekly, the pastor is teaching, and many churches are already filming their services with multiple cameras. It’s not a major step from shooting a service for streaming or social media, to developing a broadcast TV program.

5) TV cuts through the barriers. People can slam the door to someone knocking, refuse to listen to someone share the gospel at work, and stay away from church, but you’d be surprised how often people stumble onto a Christian TV program and actually stick around. I’ve personally seen letters and emails from people who’s lives have been transformed simply because they clicked on a Christian programme and decided to watch. One man actually checked into a hotel room with the intention of committing suicide. When he sat on the bed, he accidentally sat on the remote. It turned on the TV and a Christian programme was playing. He listened long enough to accept Christ, put the gun down, and go back home. I can give you plenty of other stories as well.

I know you can give me lots of reasons churches shouldn’t do TV, and there have been plenty of mistakes in the past. And we could certainly stand to see more creativity as well as correct theology when it comes to programming. But the truth is, television is still a powerful medium, and if we’ll take the time to understand how it works, and how it connects with an audience, it still can be an important element in sharing our message with today’s culture.

I know that God can speak to us in different forms. However, do you think churches produce tv programmes that speak directly to people and their situations? Have you ever watched a church tv programme and felt challenged by it?  Click on the banner.

Help Is Here

Everyday I read some devotions in the mornings before I pray. This is one of the devotions for today.

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), that He may remain with you forever.
—John 14:16

Many people have received Jesus as Savior and Lord. They will go to heaven, but never draw on the full capacity of the Holy Spirit that is available to them or experience the true success God wants them to enjoy on Earth. Simply put, many will be on their way to heaven, but they won’t enjoy the trip.

We often look at those who have wealth, position, power, fame, and other resources in abundance and we consider them “successful.” But many people who are considered successful still lack good relationships, good health, peace, joy, contentment, and other true blessings through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Such people are still independent; they have never learned to depend completely on the power of the Holy Spirit.

People who are self-sufficient often think depending on God is a sign of weakness. But the truth is that by drawing on the ability of the Holy Spirit, they can accomplish more in their lives than they ever could by working in their own strength.

God created us in such a way that although we do have strengths, we also have weaknesses and we need His help. We know He wants to help us because He sent a Divine Helper, the Holy Spirit, to live inside us (1 Corinthians 6:19).

We often struggle needlessly because we do not receive the help available to us. I encourage you to depend on Him, not on your own strength.

Whatever you are facing, you don’t have to go through it alone, help is here. If you are in need of prayers or words of encouragement, just click on the banner below.

Big Up Africa: Levy Sekgapane

0

South African Wins International Opera Singing Competition.

We on 1Africa would like to say Big Up and congratulations to Levy Sekgapane, a young tenor from South Africa, who has scooped first place in the Belvedere Opera Competition, the most prestigious and largest singing competition for young opera singers in the world!

The finals of the 34th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Opera contest were held at Het Muziektheater in Amsterdam.

The jury consisted of artistic and casting directors from renowned opera houses such as the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London and Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Levy, who grew up in Kroonstad and studied opera at the University of Cape Town (UCT), was overcome with emotion upon being announced as the winner in the competition that’s known as the “springboard” for young opera singers into a career in opera.

With qualifying rounds held in 63 cities around the world, this is a major achievement for Levy, as well as fellow talented South Africans Khanyiso Gwenxane, Caroline Modiba, Noluvuyiso Vuvu Mpofu and Lukhanyo Mzondi Moyake who took part in the finals.

Levy – who is also a pianist and conductor – has won 7,000 euros in the competition. Second prize went to Lisa Davidsen, a soprano from Norway, and third to Ki Hun Park, a tenor from South Korea.

It’s quite fitting that a South African has won, as the next Belvedere will be held on 2 July 2016 in Cape Town at the South African College of Music, UCT. This will be the first time in the Competition’s history that the final rounds are held outside of Europe.

Pastor Makes The Congregation Eat Snakes

0

Pastor makes the congregation eat snakes and ‘rocks turned bread’.

The End of Times Disciples Ministries Pastor has yet again broken internet, this time for making his congregation believe that he can turn a rock into bread and making them consume snakes.

On Monday July 13, the Soshanguve based church’s Facebook page posted pictures showing some members of the congregation taking a bite out of a rock that Pastor Penuel ‘turned’ into a bread by stepping on and praying for it.

The Facebook post, which was accompanied by pictures read: “#demonstration”
Man of God said they must bring a rock and He turned it into bread. Satan have been making people fools. Satan said to Jesus ‘turn a rock into a bread’ he knew that he could do it however his motive was wrong.”

He also apparently commanded them to eat snakes which he apparently turned into a ‘chomp’ chocolate.

“#‎Demonstration‬. Man of God declared a snake to become a chocolate (chomp) and the congregation ate it. We have authority to change everything into anything and it will obey because of our authority.”

Pastor Penuel is known for stomping on his congregation as well as making them strip naked as part of his healing method.

Many have had a lot to say about this Pastor, including Pastors from different churches across Africa. Some have called his teachings barbaric.

A few weeks ago I wrote an article similair to this one regarding false Prophets. In that article I strongly emphasized that the Bible reminded us of Jesus’ teachings, where in His teachings, He warned, “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand”

These false teachers and prophets will come and will attempt to deceive us. Maybe you’ve read similar articles to this one or have previous experiences with false prophets that have came into you life and told you something that’s totally opposite from what the Bible teaches. Or feel confused about what the real Truth is. We know how frustrating it can be to be searching for the real truth but be tossed around. Celebs With Insured Body Parts

0

1. Taylor Swift

Body part: Legs

Amount allegedly insured for: $40 million

Taylor is one of the world’s biggest pop stars and her energetic live shows not only showcase her incredible vocals and amazing songs, but feature some seriously impressive dance moves.

In March 2015, it was reported that Taylor was set to insure her dancing pins for a whopping $40 million.

A source told the National Enquirer at the time: “It seems like a ludicrous sum, but if something was to happen to her legs, Swift wouldn’t be able to give her signature stage performances,”

The sum apparently shocked Taylor herself, who found the amount “embarrassing”.

Those are some pricey legs!

2. Mariah Carey

Body part: Legs

Amount allegedly insured for: $1 billion

There’s no deying that Mariah has an amazing set of pins. But in 2006, she insured them for the record-breaking sum of $1 billion.

At the time a source told the Daily Mirror: “The sum reflects her popularity. She’s about to start a U.S. tour and she’ll have to be careful.”

We bet the insurers were relieved there were no accidents then.

3. Adam Lambert

Body part: Voice

Amount allegedly insured for: approx $47 million

There’s no denying Adam has a spectacular voice. But in 2012, it’s rumoured he wanted to protect it ahead of a number of promotional performances.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Insurance for stars is a big deal in the US and Adam’s voice is his bacon. He had it insured last week.”

4. America Ferrera

Body part: Smile

Amount allegedly insured for: $10 million

When she’s not hiding her pearly whites under a grill in her Ugly Betty role, America certainly has a winning smile.

A leading tooth care brand certainly agreed when in 2007, it insured her smile to raise money for charity Smiles for Success.

In response America said: “It’s very flattering to have my smile insured for $10 million, it’s not something that I ever imagined happening.”

5. David Beckham

Body part: Legs

Amount allegedly insured for: $100 million

When David was at the height of his game in 2006, he reportedly took out insurance for his legs, feet and toes.

Oh, and apparently it covered him for his looks as well. Luckily for Victoria he never had to make a claim.

6. Celine Dion

Body part: Voice

Amount allegedly insured for: $1 million

Celine has a voice of an angel, but just in case something happens and it doesn’t ‘go on’, reportedly she’d receive a lump sum of $1 million.

7. Cristiano Ronaldo

Body part: Legs

Amount allegedly insured for: $90 million

Following in David Beckham’s footsteps, Cristiano’s team, Real Madrid, decided the footballer’s goal-scoring legs needed some insurance in 2009.

We think his muscly thighs are worth that alone!

8. Julia Roberts

Body part: Smile

Amount allegedly insured for: $30 million

Julia’s dazzling smile is priceless, or so we thought.

Reportedly, it’s insured for $30 million.

Let’s just hope Julia flosses…

9. Daniel Craig

Body part: Body

Amount allegedly insured for: $9.5 million

If you have a body as fit as Daniel’s and you insist on doing your own stunts, you just don’t know which body part might get injured.

So Daniel decided he might as well get his entire body insured.

10. Tina Turner

Body part:  Legs

Amount allegedly insured for: $3.2 million

Love Thy Neighbour

“Love thy neighbor” is a term that’s become almost clichéd over the years. But where did it originate, and what does it really mean? In a time when neighbours are people we rarely see or are thought of as nuisances with barking dogs and noisy children, how can we possibly love our neighbours?
Love thy neighbour was, in part, Jesus’ answer when the Pharisees, the chief religious sect of that day, asked Him about the greatest commandment in the Law. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments”.

Jesus was summing up all the law in these two statements. If we love the Lord God with all our heart, soul and mind, loving our neighbour is the natural result. The question then is, who is our neighbour, and how do we love him or her?

Is our neighbour more than the guy next door? Could he or she be someone in our community or almost anyone we meet? Could our enemies also be our neighbours? Jesus says that it’s so. But how can we love someone who acts hatefully toward us?

When we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, we grow to recognize that everyone is part of His creation. Will everyone be in heaven? No, but that’s not because God doesn’t desire that to be the case. His Word tells us that God desires that all would be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). So it’s clear that God sees all of us as potential children. Because He lives outside of time and has seen the end from the beginning, He also knows who will choose salvation and who will not. For us, that is where faith comes in. It is not for us to know who will choose Him and who will not, but we are called to be His witnesses. In order to fulfil that calling, we must love others enough to desire their salvation just as He does.

“Love thy neighbour” is not as hard as it looks on the surface. It simply means respecting others and regarding their needs and desires as highly as we regard our own. Keeping this commandment, however, is likely to require the supernatural assistance only God, through Christ, can provide.

How can we learn to love the guy next door with the barking dog and loud music, especially when we don’t even like him? Perhaps the secret is to recognize that our neighbour, whether it’s the guy next door, the security at the local grocery store, or the Sunday school teacher at church, is someone as worthy of God’s love as you or I.

50 Cent Files For Bankruptcy

0

More Money More Problems.

Rapper 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday.

According to court documents filed in the U.S Bankruptcy Court in Hartford,  the 40-year-old rapper “reported assets and debts each in the range of $10 million to $50 million,” reports the Wall Street Journal.

The chapter 11 filing comes three days after a judge ordered 50 Cent to pay $5 million to Lavonia Levinston (the mother of rapper Rick’ child) for posting a 2009 a tape online, without her permission.

The “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” rapper flaunted his wealth. He bragged about how his talents brought him all the “fancy things” in life, including “my crib, my cars, my pool, my jewels.”

He explains why he’s filing for bankruptcy:

“You know when you’re successful and stuff, you become a target. I don’t wanna be a bull’s-eye,” he said.

The rapper went on to list other notable people who have filed for bankruptcy, including Walt Disney and Donald Trump.

“It means you’re reorganizing your finances, but it does stop things from moving forward that you don’t want moving forward,” he said, adding, “I gotta decent legal team. You don’t have to worry.”

Last August, he claimed he would donate $750, 000 to charity if boxer Floyd Mayweather would read one full page from a Harry Potter book out loud “without stopping or starting or messing up”. Mayweather did not take him up on the challenge.
