How are you going in keeping your New Year’s resolutions? Was fitness one of them? Here’s some inspiration for getting your fitness back on track.
I am sure I don’t have to give you the lecture on how important fitness is to your health. There are gyms on every corner and you may even have a membership. However, unless we commit to improving our fitness by exercising, having a gym membership won’t do us much good.
Perhaps the busyness of last year caused your fitness to take a back seat. That happens to all of us. It doesn’t matter what has happened in the past. It’s a new year, full of new possibilities and opportunities. Don’t let other factors determine your fitness. You determine how you will exercise and look after yourself.
The key to getting your fitness back on track is planning ahead. You don’t exercise by accident. And if you think you’ll somehow squeeze it into your day, you are mistaken. Treat fitness like an appointment in your week. Schedule it, plan for it and commit to it.
When it comes to health and exercise, it’s important to know what works best for you. Some people love the gym, others hate it. Maybe sports appeal to you or outdoor activities. If you hate running, don’t force yourself to do it. Find what you enjoy doing and exercise that way.
For me, personally, I love to walk in nature or along the beach. I can walk for hours with a good view and it not feel like tedious exercise. I now know that is the form of exercise best suited to me. So instead of wasting my money on a gym membership, I drive down to the beach and go for a brisk, long walk.
Exercise helps you feel better and keeps you healthy. Let’s schedule at least 30-minutes of exercise three times per week to keep us healthy and fit in 2017.
