Creative genius, Pharrell Williams’ film Hidden Figures will premiere tonight.

Late last year, Williams spoke to The Breakfast Club about the project and how inspired he was to be a part of it.

Hidden Figures is about the untold story of three African-American women – Katherine G. Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) – working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

The film is set in the 1960’s in his home state of Virginia.

Apart from the massive undertaking of trying to send a man into space, they also have to navigate the racism and sexism of the time. Which in many ways persists ’till today.

If the trailer is anything to go by, the movie is set to be a hit.

And if Pharrell Williams is excited about it, you best believe it will be fire.

Apart from the movie, Williams spends some time talking about US politics – why Donald Trump won, why he endorsed Hilary Clinton and issues of race relations.

Williams also takes a swipe at the music industry for “enslaving” artists for a very long time.

In his opinion, the artists and not the record labels, should be in control of how their music is distributed.
