Life has this habit of letting all of the crazy out ALL AT ONCE –

Giving us a rest and then having a good go at us again.

Here’s the thing, us as lovers of Jesus (I think the common term is, ‘Christians’) are called to be fruitful in every season, but sometimes, when we look back, the ‘busy’ didn’t produce anything in our lives except – well, tiredness. That is not good, and we’ve all been guilty of it.

WHAT IS BEING ‘FRUITFUL’ AND WHY DOES GOD WANT THAT FROM US?

  • John 15:16 (ESV), “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide…”
  • 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV), “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”

GOD IS ULTIMATELY GLORIFIED WHEN WE ARE FRUITFUL IN GOOD THINGS:

  • Colossians 1:10 (ESV), “So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in EVERY good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
  • Matthew 7:17 (NLT) “…You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit… Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.”
  • Philippians 1:11 (ESV), “Filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God”

TRUE DISCIPLES WILL BEAR FRUIT FOR GOD’S GLORY:

  • John 15:8 (ESV), “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples…”
  • Matthew 5:16 (ESV), “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they might see your good deeds and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.”

Staying connected to the ‘true vine’ (that is Jesus Christ) should be something that we do in the ‘lull’ so that when stuff gets out of hand, all that we produce is good. In the best and worst situations we must be unable to produce anything else but Jesus.

It’s Monday today and someone reading this might feel drained and just depleted because of stuff that’s going on. I hope that this can encourage and challenge you.

Today, my friend, take a step to connect to/hold on to Jesus. He is the only thing that is sure and worth anything in a crazy world, and he is actually reaching out to you more than you may be reaching for him. Take a second to be still and ask Him to walk in front of you.
