It seems this question is everywhere. There are so many voices telling us what is and what isn’t important in life. You may even have heard that knowing God is an important part of having a meaningful life. But why is God important?
Because He created us
We are only here because God created us. He is important because He exists as the giver of life. Everything we see could not have come from nothing. God created the Earth and everything in it for our enjoyment. He created us with a purpose and destined us for good things.
Because He loves us
God’s love for you is unlike any other love you could imagine. It is unconditional, keeps no record of your wrongs and nothing can separate you from it. He loves you so much that He sacrificed Himself so that you could have life. Not just in this life but in the life to come. The Bible says in Romans 6:
“Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.”
Because He has a plan for your life
Human beings seem to be hard-wired to search for God. Some describe it is a God-shaped hole in our heart. There is a void within us that we try to fill with money, success, love and so on. But the truth is, nothing can satisfy that vacuum within, except a relationship with God as our Creator, Saviour and Friend. We are all searching for meaning and significance. We want our lives to mean something. Having a relationship with God gives us the meaning we are longing for and gives our lives greater purpose. The Bible says in Jeremiah that before God formed us in our mother’s womb, He knew us and gave us purpose.
God is eternal, almighty, all-knowing, just and loving. If you don’t yet know Him, we would love to chat to you.
